1960 Velocette LE
When introduced in 1949, the LE-type Velocette was acclaimed worldwide for its quietness, weather protection, comfort and safety. More power was provided when the 149cc engine was, in 1951, increased in capacity to 192cc. Many of the technical features, such as water-cooled twin-cylinder engine, shaft final drive and pressed-steel box-section frame with readily adjustable rear springing were advanced for motorcycles at the time.While advanced, sedate and economical - it was also unpopular and would be the cause of the company going out of business in 1971.
