Temora
Airshow & Aviation Museum
15, 16 & 17 September weekend 2007
A long weekend ride to the Temora Air Show and Aviation Museum, with a 2-night pub-stay 35 kms from Temora. Travel via Lithgow, Cowra & Young to the Commercial Hotel Stockinbingal on Saturday, visit the Air Museum and Air Show on Sunday, returning to the pub Sun night, home via Yass on Mon.
Temora has
Australia’s largest Air Museum, the site of a WW2 Training base. The Museum
has “flying days” several weekends each year where vintage and military
aircraft are flown.
Check their website at www.aviationmuseum.com.au/ for admission costs.
This trip is a replacement for the October l/w/e trip to Sandy Hollow and the Warbirds Over Scone Airshow. The 15 &16 September weekend also includes the “non-holiday” Monday ( for who suffer from the “w” word ).
Stockinbingal
is 54 kms south-west of Young, and 35 kms east of Temora.
It’s also on our way home on the Monday.
We’ve
booked the whole hotel for the Saturday and Sunday nights.
$45 pp per night, includes bbq dinner and breakfast.
The pub has 5 doubles and 5 twin share rooms plus an “overflow”
area. We’ve called in and had a look around, and by country pub standards
it’s pretty good. When you ring Dave or Lynne on 6943 1472 to book, tell
them you’re with Ulysses Northern Beaches. If the pub ambience is not
your thing, or if you’d prefer a ground floor motel room, talk to Bob
or Bev at the Wattle Tree Motel, 25 kms away at Cootamundra. $83/dbl/night.
Ph. 6942 2688.
Ride distance
: Saturday = 450 kms ( 6 hrs ) via Cowra, Sunday = 90 kms Temora & return,
